Spotlight on the Wide Silver Ring Band Class

There’s something truly special about wearing a piece of jewellery that you’ve made yourself. My Wide Silver Ring Band Workshop is the perfect opportunity to craft a one-of-a-kind ring, whether you prefer a personalised design with a loved ones initials or something with texture or pattern. In this blog, I’ll share some of the different styles you can create in the workshop and the techniques we use to bring your vision to life!

Designing Your Ring

One of the best things about making your own wide silver ring band is the creative freedom. Some people love a minimalist, hammered finish, while others enjoy adding patterns and unique details with stamps. At the start of the workshop, we will play around with the tools available, using a piece of copper to test out the various options before choosing your favourite for your silver ring.

Textures and Patterns

A wide band ring provides the perfect canvas for textures and stamped details. Here are some of the options available in the class:

  • Celestial Details – Obviously I would be a fan of anything celestial but I did not make this group all do a space theme... promise! These were made using a mix of stamps for the moons and planet and a small punch to add the little dots.

  • All over texture – The left two and bottom right have been hammered to create a lovely dimpled look. This is an excellent stress reliever! The top right is a little flower stamp used over and over to completely fill the space.

  • Hearts and Initials – So cute, using different sized hearts and the letter stamps.

  • Letters to celebrate family and pets – The left ring has a precious cats name and the right ring has an initial for close family members scattered across the surface. The central ring uses a stamp repeatedly to fill the space.

The Workshop Experience

No prior experience is needed to take part—just a willingness to get creative! In this small-group session, you’ll learn traditional silversmithing techniques, including:

  • Measuring and cutting sterling silver to fit your finger perfectly.

  • Applying textures and design stamps to bring your ring to life.

  • Forming and soldering the band securely.

  • Polishing and finishing your piece.

Why Join This Workshop?

Whether you’re looking for a fun creative activity, a personalised gift idea, or a meaningful keepsake, this workshop is a great way to experience the joy of jewellery making. Plus, you’ll leave with a stunning, handcrafted silver ring that’s uniquely yours! I love seeing people come up with their own favourite combinations.
