Make a Day of It: Things to Do in Pocklington Before or After Your Jewellery Class
A jewellery making class might be what brings you to Pocklington for the first time but why not make a day of it? Pocklington has plenty to offer, whether you fancy a bite to eat, a scenic walk, or a browse through independent shops before or after your class.

Start Your Day with a Coffee & Breakfast
If you’re arriving in Pocklington early, fuel up for your creative session at one of the town’s lovely cafes. If you are coming during the week or a Saturday, you have to get a cinnamon bun from Atlas. If it's one of my Sunday sessions, then check out the Hide, just round the corner or Whisk, a little bit further down Market Street.
Explore Burnby Hall Gardens
Just a short stroll from the workshop, Burnby Hall Gardens is a beautiful place to unwind. Home to a National Collection of Hardy Water Lilies, it’s a peaceful spot to walk and take in the scenery. If you visit in spring, you might also see the Snowdrops or the Tulip Festival - I try to visit as much as possible during these times as they are my favourite flowers.
Browse Independent Shops & Boutiques
Pocklington is full of charming independent shops, why not wander through the town centre? Stop by The Acorn Gallery for stunning artwork or Dilly Dally for something cute for your home.
A sweet treat
Just across the road from the studio is the most amazing gelato shop - Swirlz have a fantastic selection of flavours and are always coming up with random ones! I'm a firm believer that ice cream is a year round treat too, don't just wait for a sunny day!
Take a Scenic Walk in the Yorkshire Wolds
If you’d like to stretch your legs before heading home, Pocklington sits on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Wolds. A walk up to the Madhyamaka Kadampa Meditation Centre, you can walk from town, via the golf course and loop back, or you can drive to the centre and have a wander around the lake and woods. You could also explore Millington Woods, a beautiful ancient woodland just a short drive away.
Round Off the Day with a Drink 🍷
After a hands-on day at the jewellery bench, why not relax with a drink? I love the Market Tap which has a great selection of beers from Brew York (plus an excellent cider), they also do really nice food if you are bit peckish. If Judsons is open, they also do great food and a really tasty cocktail. You can usually sit outside too and watch the world go by.
Whether you’re coming for a morning class and want to extend your visit or making an afternoon of it, Pocklington has plenty to offer. A jewellery workshop is just the start—why not turn it into a full day out?
