You may be looking for something special, a one-off piece or maybe you have an idea in mind that you’d like to see come to life... a commission piece could be for you! I’ll break down the process and show you what you can expect when commissioning me to make you a beautiful piece of jewellery.
Questions! If its going to be something special we wan to get it right. Think about who it is for. It could be you or a loved one. Friend or family. Maybe you have an important question you’d like to ask your significant other? Whoever is the lucky recipient, we want to know a bit about them, what styles do they like, what is their favourite colour or maybe their birthstone? Are they a gold or silver fan? Bold design or something minimalist? Will they wear it every day or maybe just special occasions?
Then let’s get a bit more specific.
What are we making? A ring, pendant, a lovely pair of earrings? When is it for? Do you have a time in mind or specific date you’ll need it by? What is the budget? Don’t be put off thinking it will cost you an arm and a leg, if you need to work to a figure, be up front about it. It may mean simplifying a design or using a different stone, plating something gold rather than solid metal. What you originally have in mind might not be achievable but there could be a work around.
Let's get started!
Get in touch! Send your info to torifostersilver@hotmail.com and we can work either over email or arrange a phone call. If you have a doodle (no matter how good!) send that and as much of the above info as possible. If it's not in my style or skillset then that might be the end of the road to us but I could recommend some other names who may be more suitable.
The Design

I’ll start with some rough drawings; some will be very rough! Then we can narrow it down to get something you love. I will send out a design either via email or post, please make sure you review this carefully. I should be able to give an idea of a price at this point, but it will only be an approximation.
Once we’ve got a final design signed off, I can then prepare the quote. At this point I will request a 50% deposit paid, which will be non-refundable. This will allow me to purchase materials and get making!
The making process

I can keep in touch with updates if you wish, some people like to see the process and the different stages involved. I give a timescale with your quote which will depend on the complexity of the design, my current workload and if the piece requires hallmarking. Upon completion, the final balance will need to be settled before your commission is dispatched. I can then wrap it up safely and post it to you.
Changed your mind?
As above, if I have started work on your design the 50% deposit is non-refundable. Up until that point, you may cancel for no fee. It may be possible to change your design but not in all cases. My commissioned items are non-refundable, however if there is a manufacturing fault then I will do my best to repair this.
I hope this has answered your questions, but any further ones don’t hesitate to get in touch!
